My interest in the arts began in elementary school but blossomed in college. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Radio/TV/Film from Oklahoma State University with an emphasis in photography and a Master’s degree from OSU as well.
My interest in glass began in the early 1990s and soon became my medium of choice. This lead me to explore methods of glass manipulation, focusing mainly on fusing glass. For fusing, glass is heated in a kiln until the desired appearance is achieved. It then is allowed to cool slowly to anneal the glass. To shape the glass into a functional shape, it is re-fired and allowed to slump into a mold form. Many pieces require several firings to achieve the final result. In addition to working with warm glass, I love to blow glass any chance I get!
Much of my jewelry includes dichroic glass, which is glass coated with metallic oxides. While this type of glass is considerably more expensive than other fusible glass, it adds a sparkle to work that cannot be achieved otherwise. All of my earrings have sterling wires/posts. I am also working with copper and silver sheet to create unique new earrings.
With over 25 years of glass experience, my glasswork includes traditional styles as well as contemporary offerings.
